Community House,
Louise Hough, Hostess
September 7th, 1950

Louise Hough entertained the One thousand ninty-first meeting
of The Association at The Community House at the regular time on
September seventh. After lunch the meeting was called to order by
Mariana Miller, and the minutes of the last meeting with our hostess
were read. The minutes of the last meeting were not here, so that item
of business was dispensed with.

The Treasurer reported all dues paid, and a balance on hand of
$27.

The next place of meeting will be Plainfield with Helen W. Moore,
and in November with Rebecca Small, December with Elsie Stabler.

For her Sentiment our Hostess had a quotation from Longfellow.

Edith Green told us to look for a total eclipse of the Moon on
the night of the 25-26 of this month, beginning at 8-20 and ending about
2;15.

Alice Farquhar read a story of spiders and their habits.

Elsie Stabler of a section of the Museum of Science in London
which is for the blind. Everything is arranged so it may be felt,
and discriptions are in Braille. It is the only one of its kind, and is
in constant use.

Mary Brooke told of some of the remarkable "critters" that have
been at Falling Green.

Margaret Jones a very fine article on What the World needs.

Miss."Tibbie" Such told of a spider tying up a Hornet.

Ethel Thomas had left her article,which was on spiders, at home.

Elza Thomas read from a book on the old Stanley Steamer car.

Helen Hallowell read us what to do in the case of an Atomic Raid,

Catherine Adams told a spider -wasp story and quoted a little
poem about spider webbs on the wet grass.

FannyIddings recited a poem on the wind, and told a spider story.

Rebecca Small read an article from the Reader's Digest of a
couple who spent a three month Honeymoon in America for $120. They came
from Europe, the wife was Dutch, and the husband Swedish, and drove over
the eastern part of this country from Niagra Falls fo Florida. They
were impressed with the friendliness of the people they came in contact
with, and the Super-Markets.

Dr. Crum read us of that most important plant-corn. She asked
about the hugh pipes which are being hauled up the Colesville road. They
are for the gas line which is being laid from Texas to New York.

Mrs. Chadwell, a guest told of a expidition she and Emelene Hill
took to New Winsdor Maryland, and the wonderfully organized work- relief
work being done there by the United Brethren.

Emelene Hill showed pictures and read of a memorial stair-carpet
depicted in Life Magazine.

Helen Moore some jokes.

Esther Stabler read exerps from Betty McDonald's new book.

Grace Thomas, under pressure, told something of the trip she and
Francis had this summer through Montana, Wyoming and into Canada. They
stopped in Jackson Wyoming, which town is named for Mr. William Jackson.

There were no Committee reports and the meeting adjourned to
meet with Helen Moore, September October 5th.
