MID-MONTGOMERY COUNTY BOX 149 OLNEY, MARYLAND
Jaycees

October 21, 1965

Mr. Alan F. Thomas
The Hortiultural Society
Sandy Spring, Maryland

Dear Mr. Thomas:

Thank you for your letter regarding our efforts for the
Beautification of Montgomery County. I have delayed answering
so that I may inform you of the latest developments by our chapter
in this field.

We have been instrumental in sponsoring a state Community
Beautification program and have recently have one of our members,
William C. Austin, Jr., of Burtonsville, appointed as the state chairman.
Mr. Austin has been in touch with Governor Tawes and the
Keep Maryland Beauiful Committee, and also Attorney General Finan
regarding more realistic littering laws. These efforts will hopefully
produce a state-wide campaign, coupled with a survey of our
local community needs and a concentrated drive, in the spring, of
Jaycees and other interested groups.

We appreciate your concern and offer of help toward one of
the finest objectives interested citizens can strive to achieve,
that of improvement of their community.

Very truly yours,
John M. Brusnighan
