Some discussion revolved around the membership of the Committee wich the Society resolved by expanding the Committee to include Bob Miller and Helen Bentley. The Committee will meet again to review plans.

New business The Secretary was asked to read resignation of Mr and Mrs. Irving Smith. The resignation was regretfully accepted and the Secretary requested to so notify the Smiths - this she did belatedly.

Jean and Tom Ladson were suggesated for membership and the suggestion was received enthusiastically. They will be voted on at the next meeting.

Questions -

Pete wondered why they named the place Great Ease.

In answer to questions Betty revealed that she has 8 peace rose plants; also that the bougainvillea has bloomed ever since 1958

Helen Bentley had licked, shelled and frozen 3 quarts of peas. Jack revealed that they plant 4 kinds of peas on the same day. They mature at different dates and give a progression of peas.

If that is the name of the tree in the shrubbery border - Baloon tree

That tree has an objectionable odor: Aleanthus, The tree in the book The tree grows in Brooklyn

An extensive discussiong grew out of a question regarding the merits of white clover. Some favored it Some didn't. Pete said it enriches the soil.Some just like it It is good for bees; It feeds the blue grass Chickens like it - It gives a natural look to lawns. Children like clover to make chains.

Mrs. Goff wants a method of keeping cherries on trees. Strips of [chiral?] attached on strings, imitation snakes, pieces of mirror or foil attached. John reported that in Holland Shots are used, going off every few minutes. The use repeating calcium chloride canons.

Douglas asked if anyone had heard that Cynthias place is being sold.

Frances Thomas commented on the beauty of Great Ease, reflecting the thoughts of all of us. He complimented Betty on the rose and horticulture departments, Pete on the acres of corn, the grand shuffle board and the tempting cropped tee off beyond

Mr. Goff was appointed as one of the readers. M M Miller was continued from the meeting to read old minutes.

Roylyn was announced as the next place of meeting

Meeting Roslyn July 2, 1963

Horticultural met at Roslyn July 2 1963 It was a delightful meeting although we missed the fellowship of a number of absent members. There were several guests including the Adelfros and Jane Day.

An delight unusual treat met our eyes as we came up the driveAn apricot tree filled with golden fruit and the ground underneath covered with delicious fruit. Almost everyone went back to tast inspect this tree and taste its fruit. Again as we left cars stopped to take samples home - all with Chicken's permission.

After supper we adj admired the many views from Roslyn and held our meeting under the spreading branches of a huge tree.

Robert Miller presided in the absence of the President and vice president. Minutes of the preceding meeting were approved with corrections.

Mary Moore Miller and Henry Loft were readers. Mary Moore took us back to a meeting at Cloverly May 12 1926 which reported on the April meeting.

We learned that Horticulture changed its meeting from the 1st Tuesday to the 2d Wednesday
