Precipitation for January was 5.27 inches,
the average being 3.55 inches.

February arrived with the mercury
standing on zero. The 2nd, "Groundhog
Day,"- the mercury was up to 10°, but
clear, the groundhog must have
seen his shadow twice for we had
12 weeks of bad weather instead of 6.
The 7th inst. the mercury was 2° below
zero and the remainder of the month
was just winter weather.

March was simply March until
16th when the mercury jumped to 78°.
Then more March until the 21st when
the mercury jumped up to 76° here and
80° in Washington D.C. The next jump
was downward,- when on the 27th,
the mercury reached 34° with a
very heavy frost. In 3 days the
the mercury was back up to 70°.
