H/10/1935-5-

Norwood.
The Maples
Sandy Spring
Maryland
October 1st/'35.

This year, 1935, was ushered in
with a cold, blustry New Years
Day. Mercury 35° to 38°. Next day
the mercury was 20° to 40°, a most
beautiful winter's day. We then had
the average winter weather until
the 23d when things began to happen.
Snow, 8 inches, fell on the 23d and
the next morning the mercury
stood at 5° with eleven inches of snow,
and badly dripled in places. No
mail or Daily Papers delivered to
residences off the State roads. The
next morning, the 25th inst. the mercury
was 9° below zero, and the 28th inst. 14°
below zero. Then 'twas: "When Winter Comes."
