WHEREAS, the prejudice and groundless fears of individuals in the vicinity of the County Home (poor house) of Montgomery County, near rockville, resulted in the presentation of a largely signed petition to the Trustees of the Poor, protesting against any grant, lease or permission of the use of any portion of the poor farm for the establishment of a turberculosis tent-santiarium for indigent cases; and

WHEREAS, the Trustees of the Poor after receiving said petition decline to loan or lease in any manner a part of the poor farm or to permit the establishment of such sanitarium thereon, therefore

We, the undersign, hereby subscribe the amounts set opposite our several names for the purchase of a sufficent amount of ground, five acres more or less, at some suitable place within the limits of Montgomery County, Maryland, whereon to establish a sanitarium for the amelioration and cure of indigent tuberculosis cases, both colored and while, among the residents of Montgomery County

Said sanitarium to be conducted by the SOCIAL SERVICE LEAGUE OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY, or its duly consituted successor, and said property, when purchased, to be held in the name of three or more trustees selected by the Board of Directors of said SOCIAL SERVICE LEAGUE, unles said SOCIAL SERVICE LEAGUE shall become an incorporated body.

Subscriptions to be payable within thirty days after receipt of notice form the Secretary-Treasurer of the SOCIAL SERVICE LEAUGE that at least $500 has been subscribed for the purpose above indicated.
