Letter: Cornelia Hallowell to her grandmother, 1868

Rockland 2nd Mo. 28th, 1868 My Dear Grandmother Grandfather asked us if we could not like to write to thee, and we said we would like it very much. Mother and father went to Mr. Joseph Moore's and they said they liked their house very much. As they were going, they left the baby at Stanmore with the girls, as they went on, and they said they thought she was the sweetest baby in the world, and kept her so that mother did not have any trouble with her. When Cousin Ellen took her in

the school room, one of the girls spoke fore her first, and other the second, and so on. They were very glad that mother brought her, and she did not cry one bit. I am very much obliged to thee for our scrapbook. We have five or six pictures for thee to put in our book when thee comes up here next summer.

Sister got a letter from Maud today, in a letter [Corrie] got. She said she was very well, but the other day she fell down on the ice and broke her collar bone; it was well now. Yesterday father and Mother took all their children to uncle Ben's to spend the evening.

I played on a Accordion nearly all the time. I held Bobcat on my lap, and coming home he went to sleep. Thy affectionate Grand. daughter Cornelia Hallowell
