Meeting No. 1404- Cont'd

much better than traditional close axles. He can control the amount of weight on the last axle from the cab. This allows easier turning and reduces the the tread wear. He "leaked out" a comment about being able to redistrubute the weight to lower the read fees on state scales. I am sure the state will come up with a way to get the money anyhow.

We returned to the house where Wash White was carefully grilling some beautiful steaks. We were served a bountiful, delicious meal by his Mom, friend, and lovely Wife Yvonne.

Following the fresh peach cobbler, everyone "waddled" to the parlor.

The following minutes were read:

-The last meeting with Robert
-The Jane meeting
-Ladies nite held in July
-Old minutes by our Historian- Mike Morris. The old minutes were from 1952 at "Sunnyside" where Stanley and Osborne Stabler were hosts. It was noted that the hosts were the more intellectual and better informed members of the club. They were very much involved in producing certified seed corn -- not many in the area were doing this. They rode horses through the rows and detassled selected rows of corn to cause cross-pollination.

Questions/Answers (No question from host)

Q. George Lechlider - A caterer wants to know where he can get a lamb every week or so?

A. He might try Mrs. Shultz of Ashton or Pete Austin. Tim Conner and Stanley Stabler have them some monthes during the year.

Q. Rudel Beall - Does Johnson grass sed survive through silage?

A. Probably a percentage does. The heat will kill some but not all over.

Comments:

Clarke Beall - He was advised of some fall seed prices: $4.50 barley, $6.85 wheat, $5.30 rye. Prices are up and you should order early.
