153 7th Mo. 29th 1871 [July 29, 1871] The Club Met at the House of B. H. Miller all of the nembers being present except Semi. Hopkins R. B. & Gran Farquhar There were quite a number of gentlemen present ac Chas H. Brooke was appointed foreman at 5 O'clock and after reading the Minutes of the last meeting at this glace, we started ont for a walk. A new Milk House was examined and the plan of it which was rather a new one seemed to g4v4i0 be generally liked, and in case some others wished to build similar ones perhars it would be well enough to inform them that the brick can be had at any time in quantities to suit. The gardan Llic] was found to be in good condition, and the water melons and Canteloups [212] promis[e]i an abundant supply a little later in the season. The Stock of hogs consisted cf 5 only all good specimens. The ice house was in rather a delapidated condition and looked as though the ice eci, all very near the bottom of it The peach orchcrd locked_ flourishing, hut there was not much fruit to be found. There were some very fine cows in the pasture field & 1 half Aldern[e]y heifer that was very much admired.

We passed over the stubble field part of which was well set in grass from Corn Stubble The field mowed this year did not promise much for next season, though where it was top dressed with ferterlizers :sic] looked much better. Some corn sowed for fodder after the middle of July did not look as tholigh it could stand much hot sun. The twin gates _previously spoken of looked very familliar. The barn was hardly half full of hay and grain. After reading the minutes of last meeting and eating a hearty supper the following questions were asked and answered. Our host wants to know what to do with his sod field, that would not do to mow again Majority say corn ez some say potatoes. Whet to do with stubble field that is only tolerably well set in grass Majority would leave it. What condition should a field be in to lime this time of year. Mostly say sod. How is ice keeping this year Generally well Clover Would you cut 2nd crop for hay or seed. Cut for hay if it is a good clover crop. How to Kill poke. Cut it off below the crown What to sow in corn stubble That or rye Majority say wheat. 8th Mo 26th l871 Ajourned. to meet a W. W. Moores Arthur Stabler sec.

8th Mo. 26th 1871 [August 26, 1871] The Club Met at the house of WT W. Moore All of our Members present Except W. S. Bond. We had ae Tuests Rolet. R. Moore Lu. Miller & J. T. Moore Samuel Hopkins was appointed Foreman & under His guidance We started for a walk over the farm, first going in to the garden where we sampled some grapes and noticed things generally. The celery bed looked as though it would produce well. But cabbage seemeed to be affected by an insect or some thing that was materially injuring it The barn was like most person' e this season not very full, was and the floor on part of injuring very much from a bad roof made of gravel which has I believe generally proved a failure. We went across a grass field to see look at some corn sown Broad Cast which would make an elegant lot of feed if properly cured, no doubt the experiment will be tried by a Good many another year. On our way to the house we looked at some cows not particularly fine ones were noticed, Considerable discussion was entered into about different breeds of Cattle for milk cows. After reading the Minutes of the last meeting and partaking of a bountiful supper the following questions were asked and Ansd.
