September 26th 1868

We met, by special invitation, at Wm. Lea's.
Nearly all of the members were present. The expectations
being those who attended here a week too early, by
mistake. Our walk was short, on account of this
rain and mud. We examined the corn, and found
it very fine, the pumpkins in the field more of
a new variety, and [?] good. Our host
gave us liberty to take one a piece, in order to get
the seed. The steers were in good working condition
the hogs fattening well. We were shown
some very fine] seed wheat; -after which, we went
into the house and discussed the following subjects:
1st "What shall I do with a piece of land which requires
ditching, and is grown up in brushes?"
Ans. Cut the bushes off, and pasture it hard.
2d I shall put Baugh's RamBone and Peruvian
Guarno on my wheat, shall I sow them on the
land and harrow them in together, or sow one at
the second harrowing?
3d How shall I put in wheat, in very rough ground
which has been in corn this season?
Harrow it in.
4th Will 400 lbs dissolved Bone & 500 lbs Excelsior, be
too much for it? Majority said: no.
5th Drill, or shovel plow in wheat on clear corn stubble?
Drill it in.

with different sized seed potatoes.
