Ther. 30° Wednesday, January 1st Wind N.W. 1 Day Past Clear 364 To Come Sept. 10, 1901. Dr. S. American, San Francisco, Cal., says: "I have for the past three years prescribed PeptoMangan (Gude) in chronic anaemia, chlorosis, convalescene from fevers, amenorrhoea and similar conditions with invariably good results. At present I am giving it in a case of progressive muscular dystrophy, with much benefit. In 37 years of practice, no medicine has given me so much satisfaction in similar cases."

Clear & beautiful weather for the commencement of the new year. We were all at home all day. Edwd reached home from "Highland" about 2.15 this a.m. They had a regular family & kindred gathering & feast at Mrs Robison's. Edwd went over there for a time to do something for the telephone "switch board." After supper I walked up to the store and to Fairall's office.

Ther. 22° Thursday, January 2d Wind S. 2 Days Past 363 To Come Gude's Pepto-Mangan For Anæmia, Chlorosis, Amenorrhœa, Dysmenorrhœa, Chorea, Rickets, Bright's Disease, and a general tonic and re-constructive. Specify Gude's (contents of an original bottle [z?] xi.) and thus avoid substitution

Clear & beautiful winter weather again today. Edwd went with the telephone horse & wagon first to Stabler's where he took out a "phone" and after calling at home he went to "Riverside" to connect them with the regular line throughout the neighborhood. They heretofore having only connected with "Sharon" by a private line of wires. Afternoon Carl Boswell called to see me. Edwd telephoned to say he would stay all night at "Riverside." I went to the store & P.O. before & afternoon.

Ther. 20° Friday, January 3d Wind N.W. 3 Days Past Clear & Cloudy 362 To Come Sept. 13, 1901 Dr. C. C. Godshaw, Louisville, Ky., says: "After an active practice of about twenty-five years, I have found your Gude's Pepto-Mangan to be the best ferruginous preparation I have tried, and now use it with most gratifying results exclusively in cases of anæmia and chlorosis. It is an ideal tonic and blood-maker in amenorrhœa due to poverty and deficiency of the blood."

Cold and windy all day. I went to Ashton & rode back with Dr. Nichols. Dora & Hannah Archer went to "Bloomfield" to a "rag sewing" & spent the day. After noon I went to the village and was called in to Chas Brown's to prescribe for a young man (Dudley Ridgeley) by name who is his clerk., he has "pleuropneumonia." I was to see him twice. Edwd came home from "Riverside" towards evening. Fanny & Alice Peirce were here on their way to & from "Bloomfield." After supper Edwd went next door to fix "[sartele?] board."
