Wind N.W. Clear. Ther. 65
Fri. April 17th, 1896.

Still another unusually hot
day for the time of year.
I drove down to "Bloomfield" to
see little Robison Stabler and
from there to Riverside for
some articles that belonged
to us that came from Philada
& were taken there by mistake
Chas. T. Hill came with his
two horses & cart & spread manure
over the lot & commenced plowing
the part used for our garden.
Afternoon I took "Frank" horse
to Fletcher Clarke's to have him
shod "in front" with new shoes.
Thos S Stabler came to take tea with
us, and went down to "Bloomfield"
to stay tonight with his nephew.
Mary Awkard was here for advice
& medicine, she is the widow of
Old "Bob" Awkard.

Wind. NW. &SW. Clear Ther.70
Sat. April 18th, 1896

This has been the hottest day I
ever knew at this season of the year.
Thermometer stood at 98o in
the shade on the office porch at
1-20. p.m. there was some
reflection from the road, but
no sun shine within 20 feet of
the thermometer. Jim Stabler
called this morning. I rode to
"Bloomfield" to see Rob Stabler
again & down to Ashton
Afternoon was went for & ride
over to see Old Julia Green
who is ill. After supper Willie
& Fanny came.
