Tues. April 21^st, 1896

We had a "sprinkle" of rain
towards midnight last and
strong N.W. wind but no rain
(to speak of) or storm of any kind.
The weather is cooler today, but
still warm enough for the time
of year. I walked down to Ashton
this morning, my horse being still
somewhat lame, although improving.
Henderson's planted potatoes
in the lot adjoining ours.

Wed. April 22^d, 1896.

Quite a strong wind commenced
blowing about midnight
last, and continued nearly all
day today. Had some rows run
out for planting potatoes. "Frank"
Robison undertook to, trim the
hedge for me, and finished
more than 2/3 of it. I planted
another "hitching post in the
lane, trimmed the mimosa
tree & sharpened the hand saw
besides other "tuckering".
Willie came about 11.o'clk. &
went back to "Fairfield" before
supper. Rachael Thomas was here
for advice & medicine. Mr. Jas
Duck called to see me.
Edward rode back with Willie
on his bicycle to spend the night
at "Fairfield". W was riding
Edwd R Stablers bicycle, which
he gave a thorough cleaning
whilst he was there. I walked
up to the store & P.O. after
supper.
