Wind. S.W.E. & N.W. Clear, Snow, & Clearing. Ther. 24
WED. FEB. 19th, 1896

Cold S.W. wind this morning. Willie
came & drove me over to "Fairfield" to
prescribe for Sophie Peirce & home
to dinner. The boys from next door
& Edwd cut ice on Bentley's pond
and hauled 4 cart loads to Edwd
Bentley's ice house after which they
commenced hauling (with Edwd
Bentley's horse cart) to our own
ice house & after dinner Willie
put E. Peirce's horse "Sally" to Jas
Henderson's cart & hauled ice
all afternoon: they succeeded
in getting 18 cart loads between
them into our ice house, which
took all there was on the pond
it was only about 2 inches thick
but was good clear ice. Bro Chas
called after dinner. About noon
the wind changed to N.W
& we had a snow storm for
about an hour, when it cleared
off cold again. After tea
W. went back to "Fairfield". Aug.
Bulwar was here for advice & medicine
for his youngest child.

Wind. N.W. Clear & Cloudy. Ther. 2o
THUR. FEB. 20th, 1896

Still very cold weather with
continued high N.W. wind. I walked
down to Ashton to prescribe for Bulwar's
child & back to dinner.
Afternoon "Bulwar" called to see
our cooking stove in order to
get a new "fire back" & grate for
it. I went up to the store & P.O.
Angelina Thomas' son called
and paid me part of old Julia
Green's bill. It has been extremely
cold all day, thermometer
stood at 13° at noon, and is
now, (just after sun set) 12° on
the office porch and the wind
blowing a gale from N.W. it
has clouded over & looks like
snow.
