Snow & Sleet & Rain
Ther. 30° Monday Feb. 12th, 1894 N.E. Wind

Very stormy day, commenced snowing early
this morning, & continued either snowing (very
fine) or changing to hail & sleet in the middle of
the day Emeline Hopkins was here for advice
& medicine before I was down stairs this
a.m. Gilbert Smith Jr. called & spent an hour
or two with me before dinner. This is by far
the most stormy winter day we have had
so far.

Ther. 30 Tuesday 13th N.W. Wind

The ground barely covered with
snow & sleet but three sleighs passed
our house. Bro Chad called & left some
"oyster plants without any of us seeing him
I walked up to the shops after dinner.
"John" came & applied turpentine to
"Frank" horse's throat, he having a sort
of "quinsey" sore throat. he also cut some
wood at woodpile & got his supper here
I mended Dora's trunk. After supper
Joseph Bond Jr. was here for advice &
medicine for himself.

Ther. 21 Wednesday Feb. 14th,1894 S.E & N.E. Wind

Cold & Raw, looks & feels like more
snow. I walked up to the store & shops before
dinner. Alice & Fanny Peirce & Edith Rummer
came to spend the day. Afternoon I
walked to Ashton. Edward did not attend.
school afternoon Miss Hannum being
absent: he went down & attended to the
fire about 4 o'clk. The girls left here
about 4 p.m. they drove Miss M. Colt's
horse & dayton, the horse was put in our
stable whilst they were here.
It commenced snowing about dusk &
continued up to bedtime.

Ther. 28° Thursday 15th N.W. Wind

Everything covered with sleet & snow
this morning. Sleighs have been passing here
all day. "John" came before dinner time &
rode "Frank" to Ashton to try to see Dr Tatum
(veternary surgeon). Afternoon I walked up
to the mill. Uncle Henson was here to see
me. Alf bell was also here for advice
& medicine for himself. After supper Mrs
Robinson came in for some yeast & sugar.
Edward went to a lecture at the Lyceum
subject "Alaska," illustrated by stereoptican
views.
