Ordinances of the City of Greenville. 83

Greenville, in Council assembled, and by the authority
of the same, That from and after the passage of this
ordinance it shall be unlawful for any person or persons
to willfully or malicously injure or deface in any manner
whatsoever any drinking fountain now existing or
which may hereafter be placed anywhere within the in-
corporate limits of the City, or throw rocks, sticks, pa-
per or any other material or substance in the basins
provided for the same.

Any person or persons violating the provisions of this or-
dinance, for the first offence may be fined not exceeding
five dollars or imprisonment not exceeding ten days;
for the second offence may be finded not exceeding ten
dollars or imprisonment not exceeding twenty days,
and for each subsequen offence may be fined not ex-
ceeding fifty dollars or be imprisoned not exceeding
thirty days.

Done and ratified, in Council assembled, this third day
of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-two, and in the one hundred
and sixteenth year of the sovereignty and inde-
pendence of the United States of America.

AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND REGULATING THE USE OF
SEWERS BY PRIVATE PARTIES IN THE CITY OF GREEN-
VILLE, S.C.

SECTION 1. The sanitary system of sewers in this City
consists of main and lateral conduits of salt glazed,
vitrified sewer pipe and necessary accessories. They are
designed to carry off all liquid wastes, and are
known as sanitary sewers. The sewers in the streets
passsing in front of the various lots are called main or
lateral sewers. The sewes leading from the main or
lateral sewers to the property on either side are called
house sewerss. Porous drains, laid for removing surface
water, are called sub-soil drains.
