I have been reading with great pleasure
"The King's Grace" & wonder where you
have got all your information, and so
very cleverly written. It should be
widely read, but it is not in the Biggar
windows yet, and I have never seen it
advertised in any paper, except the
very favourable Review in the Scotsman

I hope your mother had a safe
journey and feeling the better of the
change & rest, tell her I will write
her next week. I am always well
but James just middling, very much
troubled with breathlessness but always
able to do a little work every day.

We are the sleeping partners
now. Eben is the driving man
I am glad he keeps so well

We are just in the throes of
Lambing time and though sheep are
in fine condition after the fresh
winter, a great many unforseen
[causualities?] occur. This has been a
good day, but the weather has been
very cold & stormy. I hope
Johnny is keeping well & liking
his work. We are wondering
what title you will take, but
you will know best yourself
