Ald: McIntyre moves seconded by Ald: McRossie
That the City Solicitor be requested to deliver
to this Council his opinion as to whether this Council can
recover damages against any individual Alderman
ordering public work to be done in the City without the
authority of the Council on the appropriate Committee, which
work has resulted in damage to any party who has recovered
against the City for the same - which being put was
carried and the original motion was lost.

Yeas: Aldermen Allen, Asselstine, Campbell, McDermott,
McIntyre, McRossie, Pense, Power Powers - 8

Nays: Alermen Drennan, Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Harty,
Metcalfe - 5.

On motion the Council adjourned,

A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present:

His Worship the Mayor

Aldermen:
Allen, Asselstine, Campbell, Carson,
Clements, Drennan, Gaskin, Harty,
Mooers, McCammon, McDermott, McIntyre,
McRossie, Noble, Pense, Power, Price,
Walkem

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

A Communication from Charles Field was read
requesting that the Crossing in front of his property Gordon
street be finished.

On motion of Ald: Walkem seconded by Ald: Carson
Ordered, That the Communication of Charles
Field be referred to the Committee on Streets to report.

Communications from James Agnew Esquire City
Solicitor was read on the subject of the issue of $25,000
Debentures, the power of the Council as to remission of fines.

Ald McIntyre brought up the petition of Richard
Tossell praying permission to lay down building materials
on King, Johnson and Brock streets.

On motion of Ald: McIntyre seconded by Ald: McRossie
