A communication fom John D Ronald was read
Re Steam Fire Engine. Referred to Committee on
Fire, Water and Gas and Mayor

A communication from the Revd WB Carey Rural
Dean of Frontenac was read asking for a remission
of rent of City Hall on the occasion of the meeting of
the Foreign and North West Missionary Secretary of the Church
of England.

The Clerk was directed to write to the Revd WB
Carey Rural Dean stating that a resolution of Council
passed some time ago for bid a remission of the Rents
of the Halls

Ald Shannon here entered
Ald Harty from the Committee on Finance
and Accounts brought up a Report (Number 370 Book E)
which was read and adopted

Ald Drennan brought up the petition of Charles
Donoghue asking for a store for Weigh House No 2
Market.

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Little
Ordered, That the Committee on Markets have
power to act on petition of CD Donoghue.

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets brought
up a Report which was read.

On motion of Ald Gildersleeve seconded by Ald McDermott
Ordered, That the report of the Committee on Streets
be received and that it be referred to the Committee on
Finance to report whether they can provide funds for
drain referred to on Pembroke street.

The Report of the City Engineer was read Re
opening up of Sydenham street between Princess and
Johnston street with cost of same and reporting that
the space between the rails of the Street Railway Company
track requires immediate repair

On motion of Ald Gildersleeve seconded by Ald McDermott
Ordered, That the City Solicitor be instructed at
once to notify the street Railway Company to repair the
portion of the street between their track forthwith

On motion of Ald Redden seconded by Ald Thompson
Ordered, That the City Solicitor be authorised to
proceed with the nessary advertisement of procedure
for the opening of Sydenham street per plan laid before
the Council at its last meeting

Ald McDermott moves seconded by Ald Hobart
That the City Engineer be authorised to proceed with
the grading of that portion of Ontario street East of
Princess street with granite as it is in a very deplorable
condition - the resolution was declared our of order
