the Communication of Mr Wood relative to Collegiate
Institute expenses &c were read and referred to the
Finance Committee.

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets &c
brought up a Report (Number 243 Book E) which
was read and adopted as amended by referring back
to the Committee the second clause of the Report for further
consideration.

A Communication from Mr W Cathro London, Ont
was read In Re Asphalt side walks.

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire Water
and Gas brought up a Report (Number 244 Book E)
which was read.

Ald Carson moves seconded by Ald Thompson
That the report of the Committee on Fire Water
and Gas be received and adopted.

In amendment
Ald McKelvey moves seconded by Ald Thompson
That Mr Bateson's appointment take effect
from this date and that his pay be at the rate of $200
per annum and that first assistant Devlins pay
be increased to $200 per annum and that the report
be amended accordingly which being put was carried
and the report was adopted as amended.

The Chairman from the Committee on Printing
brought up a Report (Number 245 Book E) which was
read and adopted.

A Communication from the Deputation from
Loborough and Bedford in favor of opening Rideau Canal
was read thanking the Council for its action in the matter.

A Communication from M Lavell Esquire, In D was
read asking for the use of Ontario Hall for the Medical
examinations for 1884, and granted.

A Communication from James Agnew Esquire
City Solicitor was read stating the Bill to confirm By Law
exempting the property of the Montreal Transportation Co
has passed its third reading.

A Communication from the Secretary of the Kingston
Hospital respecting taxes was read and referred to the
Court of Revision.

A Communication from the Canadian Locomotive
and Engine Co was read respecting removal of certain material
on Ontario street. Referred to the Committee on Streets &c

A Communcation from W.S. Gordon City Commissioner
was read in reference to the painting Telegraph and other Poles
in the City. Referred to the Committee on City Property.

A Communication from W.S. Gordon, City Commissioner
was read relative to removal of night soil &c. Referred to the
Committee on Streets and Improvements.
