the real and personal property of the Kingston Car Works Company
(Limited) from the payment of municipal Taxes for a period of
ten years. Which was read a first time
Ald RJ Carson introduced "A By Law to exempt in part
the real and personal property of the Kingston Hosiery Company
(Limited) from the payment of municipal taxes for a period
of ten years - which was read a first time.
Ald: Allen introduced a By Law entitled "A By Law
to grant Licenses for the sale of fresh meat in less quantities than
by the quarter carcass and to impose a license fee therefor and
for other purposes" passed May 19 1879 which was read
a first time
Ald: Irving from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up a Report (Number 124 Book E.
which was read and adopted
The Chairman from the Committee on Streets
and Improvements brought up a Report (Number 125
Book E.) which was read and adopted
The Chairman from the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas
brought up a Report (Number 126 Book E.)
which was read and adopted
The Chairman from the Select Committee appointed
to proceed to Toronto in reference to abolition of market fees brought
up a Report which was received.
Ald: Smyth[e] introduced " A By Law to Consolidate and
amend the By Laws of the Corporation of the City of Kingston and
to repeal Certain By Laws" which was read a first time
On motion of Ald: Smythe seconded by Ald: R.J. Carson
Ordered, that this council when it adjourns
do stand adjourned until Friday evening next the 10th
instant to proceed with the passage of By Laws now
before the Council
A Communication from H.W. Langmuir Inspector of
Prisons &c was read enclosing Gaol Regulations
One from James Kearns was also read In Re rental
of Wares across Cataraqui Bridge. There was no action
taken thereon
A Communication from the Ladies of St Pauls Church
requesting a remission of Rent of the City Hall on the occasion
of their annual Concert. Referred to the Committee on
Finance to report.
