A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day Present

Aldermen
Allen, John Carson, R.J. Carson, Clements
Craig, Creeggan, Downing, Dupuis, C.F. Gildersleeve
J.P. Gildersleeve, Gordon, Irving, Law, McCammon
McGuire, McIntyre, Quigley, Redden, Smythe
Wilson
The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings
A communication from James Agnew Esquire City
Solicitor was read In Re County and City matters and
a representation from the City on the Board of Audit
On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: Redden
Ordered, that the Communication be referred to
the Committee On Finance to report
A Communication from William Sawyer Esquire
was read proposing to furnish the Portraits of the late Mr
Cassady and Dr McLean at a less price than the usual
charges
On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McIntyre
Ordered, that the Communication be referred to the
Committee on City Property to report
Communications from the Provincial Secretary's office
Toronto and from James H. Metcalfe M.P.P were read acknowledging
receipt of petitions market fees
Communications from Patrick Fallon, Peter Clark
John Taylor, John Gray and Charles Dinsmore praying the
Council will purchase their broken stones
On motion of Ald: McCammon seconded by Ald: Gordon
Ordered, that the petitions of John Taylor, John Gray
Charles Dinsmore, Patrick Fallon and Peter Clarke be
referred to the Committee on Streets to report
A Communication from Edwin Horsey Esquire Chief
of the Fire Department Kingston enclosing Communication from
E. Veal asking Compensation for injury to his clothing at the
late Fire
On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: Quigley
Ordered, that the Communication just read be
referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas to report
Communications from M.J. Maloney and John D.
Maloney were read desiring to have their names placed on
the Assessment Roll of Cataraqui Ward &c
On motion of Ald: R.J. Carson seconded by Ald: Smythe
Ordered, that the Communications of M.J. Maloney and
John D. Maloney be referred to the Court of Revision
Ald: McIntyre brought up the petition of James O
Gardiner
