Kingston August 26th 1878

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of
the City of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Asselstine, Carson, Clements, Drennan,
Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Metcalfe, Mooers,
McCammon, McRossie, Thompson, Walkem

The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings.

A Communication of Robert Poque was read
respecting taxes.

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Mooers
Ordered, That the Communication of Robert Poque
be referred to the Court of Revision.

A Circular from JP McMillan, Council Chamber
Guelph was read In Re Address to Lord Dufferin

On motion of Ald Carson seconded by Ald Clements.
Ordered, That His Worship the Mayor and
City Clerk with such members of this Council as wish
to accompany them, be the deputation to go to Quebec
to act with the other municipalities in presenting the
farewell address to the Governor General.

A Communication from Messrs Smyth and Dickson
on behalf of Wilber the state of drain on Pricess street.

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the Communication of Smythe
and Dickson be referred to the Committee on Streets &c
to report.

Ald Drennan brought up the petition of Edwin R
Welch praying for the construction of drain on Division
street to connect with the Princess street drain - which
was left over for the present.

Ald CLements brought up the petition of the Widower
Turcotte respecting taxation.

On motion of Ald Clements seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the petition of Bridget Turcotte
be referred to the Court of Revision.

Ald Gaskin brought up the petition of Charles
Feld and 32 others praying the Council will grant
two hundred and fifty dollars towards the expense of
extending the water pipes to Gordon street and placing a
hydrant at the corner of Gordon and Union streets as a
protection against fire.

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Mooers.
Ordered, That the petition of Charles Feld and others
in reference to extending Water Works and placing hydrant
be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas
to report.
