put was carried yeas 15 - nays 4.

Ald Mooers from the Committee on Fire, Water and
Gas brought up a Report (number 597 Book D) which
was read.

Ald Mooers moves seconded by Ald McDermott
That the report of the Committee on Fire, Water
and Gas be received and adopted.

In amendment 1st
Ald McRossie moves seconded by Ald Asselstine
That the report be amended by inserting the words
"Union and Wellington" instead of "West" street.

In amendment 2nd
Ald Allen moves seconded by Ald Noble
That no lamp be removed from the Ward
it is now in to any other Ward in the City - which being
put was lost, as was also the first amendment, and the
original motion was carried.

The Chairman from the Committee on City Property
brought up a Report (Number 598 Book D) which was read
and adopted.

Ald Pense from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up a Report (Number 599 Book D)
which was read and adopted.

On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered, That the Mayor be authorised to correspond
with the Government with a view to having Centre street
continued through the public land lying between John
and George streets.

On motion of Ald McRossie, seconded by Ald Carson
Ordered, That the Council assume and pay the
amounts overdrawn by the following Wards up to the present
time viz; Cataraqui, Rideau, Victoria, Frontenac and
Ontario.

Ald Metcalfe brought up the petition of James
Doyle praying the Council will take from him a few tons
of broken stone he has on hand - Referred to the
Committee on Streets and Improvements.

On motion the Council adjourned.
