Monday 7.30 o'Clock P.M.
Kingston September 24th 1877

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship The Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Asselstine, Campbell, Clements,
Drennan, Dupuis, Gildersleeve, Metcalfe
Mooers, McCammon, McDermott, McRossie,
Walkem

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

A Communication from the Reverend L.W. McVety
and W.H. Palmer was read accepting the conditions of
sale ($1250 in cash) of the lot they have been negotiating
with the City Council for Church lot.

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That this Council accept the offer of
L.W. McVety and WH. Palmer for Lot on Montreal street
and that the City Solictor make out the papers for the
same.

A Communication from Mr Harry Lindley was
read proposing to rent Ontairo Hall for an Opera House.

On motion of Ald. Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the Communication of Harry Lindley
& Co be referred to the Committee on City Property to report.

A Communication from James J. Burrowes Esquire
Judge County Court was read. In Re Court Room &c.

On motion of Ald Gildersleeve seconded by Ald Walkem
Ordered, That the Communication of Judge
Burrowes be referred to the Committee on City Property
to report.

A Communication from G. W. Leslie was read on
the subject of numbering the Houses of the City &c

On motion of Ald Carson seconded by Ald Drennan
Ordered, That the Communication of George W.
Leslie be referred to the Committee on Streets to report.

The Awards in Re Thomas R Dupuis and William
Patterson opening certain streets were submitted and
read.

Ald Walkem brought up the petition of John L
Gordearle respecing Taxes - there was no action
taken therein.

Ald McCammon brought up the petiton of Edward
McArdle and Patrick Lennon respecing broken stones

Ald McCammon moves seconded by Ald Metcalfe
That the petition of Edward McArdle and
P. Lennon be referred to the Committee on Streets to report
which being put was lost

Ald Metcalfe brought up the petition of Samuel
Marshall
