On motion of Ald Allan [Allen] Seconded by Ald Richardson
Ordered that the mover and the seconder together with Ald Donnelly,
Mooers and Stewart be a committee to confer with the Board of Trade in reference to the
proposed Ottawa Canal.

On motion the Council adjourned,

A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston was held
this day. Present

Aldermen

Allen, Bell, Carson, Donnelly, Elliott, Johns, Kent,
Minnes, Mooers, McKelvey, Richardson, C. Robinson,
W. Robinson, Ryan, Stewart, Tait, Taylor, Toye, Walkem,
Wright

The clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

Communications summarized were read and referred as follows: -

From J. D Dawson Township Clerk asking for amendment to
Market By Law Re Island Market - Referred to the Committee on City Property
and markets.

From A.B. Cunningham asking the Council to replace the gate
ruined by putting in the drain on Beverly Street - Referred to the Board of Works.

From J.S.Henderson Re Taxes - Referred to the Court of revision.

From John Blevins City Clerk Toronto, with enclosure giving statement
of facts relating to the application Bell Telephone Company of Canada for power to increase
their rates &c - Referred to the Committee on Finance &c.

From George Thompson Tax Collector showing amount of Taxes Collected
to date - Referred to the Committee on Finance &c.

From John McIntyre Esquire calling the attention of the Council for the excessive
charge for water for the Motor attached to the Organ in St. Andrew's Church - Referred
to the Committee on Water Works.

From Frank C. Ireland City Treasurer stating amount of fees Market
Number one collected to date - Referred to the Committee on Finance &c.

From Lt Colonel Cotton Commanding [Commander] M.D.3 asking that the Merryweather
Fire Engine in the event of the camp being held here be placed at disposal for the
purpose of pumping water from dead man's Bay to the Camp.

On motion of Ald Elliott seconded by Ald Minnes
Ordered that the City Clerk be authorized to answer the Communication
from Colonel Cotton stating that the City shall be pleased to furnish a pumping
apparatus for the use of the Military Camp to be held here this summer.

On motion of Ald Ryan seconded by Ald Donnelly
Ordered, That the particulars for furnishing a pumping apparatus
for Military Camp be referred to the Committee on Fire Water and Light to confer with
the proper authorities with power to act.
