The Chairman from the Committee on Fire, Water and Light brought
up Report (Number 94 Book H) which was read.
Alderman Ryan moves seconded by Alderman Allen
That the report of the Fire, Water and Light Committee be received and
adopted.
In amendment
Alderman Robinson moves seconded by Alderman Donnelly
That the report of the Fire, Water and Light Committee be amended to
read same as that Committee presented on November 2nd 1896 that is to say be limited
on West by a line 200 feet from Rideau Street on the South by a line 2oo feet from North
and then North by present limits provided it is found that the Underwriters Association
inform the Council that this action will not raise the insurance rates, which being put
was [underline]lost[/underline].

A Special meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day. Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Behan, Carson, Curtis, Donnelly, Drennan,
Hewton, Livington, Martin, Minnes, Newlands, Redden,
Richardson, Ryan, Skinner, Stewart, Strainge, Tait,
Walkem

The Mayor stated the meeting was called to consider agreement
between the Corporation of the City of Kingston and the Kingston Portsmouth
and Cataraqui Electric Railway Company.

The Clerk read the proposed agreeement.
Alderman Carson moves seconded by Alderman Behan
That the agreeement between the Kingston Portsmouth and Cataraqui
Street Railway Company and the Corporation of the City of Kingston Re: extension
to the northern city limits be received and adopted.

That the Council go into Committee of the whole and consider
