Recommends tht Sub Insp Brannelly be appt
Insp of Brands in Burke Dist

A new police Inspectors district
has beem named in the Gulf watershed com
prising Normanton and Burke districts

For some years the owners in the district
have been agitating for a Brands Inspector
being stationed on the Nicholson to
overhaul cattle crossing into the northern
territory. The Sub Inspector of native
police, stationed at Carl Creek was
appointed Brands Inspector but his
station is too far south of the new stock route
to admit of his inspecting the travelling
stock. Whilst the police stationed
at Burketown, being under the control
of the Inspector at Normanton, would
be able to vise the way bills of
all cattle travelling by the usual
route to the northern territory.

It is recommended therefore that
Sub Inspector Brannelly, stationed
at Normanton, be appointed an Inspector
of Brands for the Burke District with
an allowance at the rate of £100 per
annum.

Mr Brannelly, whilst stationed
at Rockhampton and at Townsville
did excellent work under the
