was some young men you might well
suppose that I was a little tight
for it is no uncommon occurance to
see youg men light headed. I never
have seen so many drunken men
anywhere as I have since I have
been here. And young men + boys
upon New Years drink to excess. If
it were not for this I should like the
festivities much better. But it looks
sad to see boys not so old as Tom
so drunk that they cannot see or go!
There was not a sober person on board
the Ferry boat Monday night beside my
company. Yet it is justice to say
that only upon New Years do you
see this. And what I did not much
fancy was to see the young ladies drinking
heaths. Perhaps I will say no
more this morning as I have a long
journey laid out before me. Until I
see you again, farewell!
