Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh breeze S. to S.West with frequent rain showers. Sea quite rough. Keeper varnishing his ???Kack?? today. 2nd ass't went to Newport on business. 29: Gale to moderate breeze South to S. West these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours hard rain. Last part of 24 hours frequent rain showers. Sea smooth. Steamer Willamett Valley sailed. Keeper making out Quarterly & Monthly returns. 1st ass't went to Newport today. 30: Light S.
