Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees
of the Ohio University June 23rd A.D. 1879
The Board of Trustees of the Ohio University convened in the
University building on Monday the 23rd day of June A.D. 1879
at 3 1/2 OClock P.M.
The following members of the board were
present, President William H. Scott, Hon Leonidas Jewett
Hon. E.H. Moore, Hon H.S. Bundy, Hon Robert Wright, Amos
Miller A.M. Horace Wilson Esq. J.M. Dana Hon. V.B. Horton,
Hon. R. de Steigner, Hon John Welch, Dr William Waddle,
Hon. George E Boyce, Hon. A.G. Brown,

There being a quorum present the meeting was called to order
after prayer by President Scott,

President Scott, Presented and read his annual Communication
On motion So much thereof as referred to degrees was
referred to Messrs Welch Waddle, + Wilson

The Acting Committee made their annual report, which
was on motion referred to a Committee consisting
of Messrs Horton Waddle + Bundy, Also so much of the
Presidents Report as refers to Finance was referred to the
same Committee.

A Communication was received from Milton S. Valid A.B.
Principal of the Preparatory Department resigning his
said Office, on motion his resignation was received
and the thanks of the Trustees, was extended to
the said Milton S Vail for his faithful service
during his word? with this University,

On motion Messrs Welch Wright + De Steigner were appointed
Committee to Report on filling the Vacancy
occasioned by the resignation of Prof. Vail Principal
of the Preparatory Department.
On motion President Scott + S. Jewett were added
to said Committee.

A Report was received from John J. Stoddard who
was appointed one of the Committee on Examination
for the present year.
On motion take the same was
ordered to be placed upon the Record, and
the thanks of the Board returned to said Stoddard
for his efficient + faithful Services,
