Samuel Green Jr. - born March 16, 1648.
It is very probable that it was through the
financial asistance of his father-in-law that S. G. Jr.
was able to assume the management of the press when
in late 1683 Samuel Sewall wished to be released
from it. Although S.G.Jr. was the real manager of
the press in 1684, yet he did not receive his license
until May 1685. Green printed between 1685 and 1690
inclusive 50 or more books. The imprint of An
Almanack of 1689 reads Boston, Printed by Samuel
Green. In 1687 he had as an assistant his brother
Bartholomew, than 21 yers. of age. One of the last books
printed by S.G.Jr. was The Present State of New England
by Cotton Mather. Boston. Printed by Samuel Green 1690.
Mrs. Green died July 16, 1690 a few days before her
husband, both of smallpox.
