Bromyard's principal work (written in the 2nd
quarter of the 14th C) is aptly described as an
encyclopedia for preachers. It contains 198
chapters on topics suitable for sermons, arranged
alphabetically. Most of the capital sins and cardinal
virtues are treated.

Generally the Opus is composed of short articles from
Abbas to Xtus, and each entry is numbered for easy
reference: thus Abbas is A.i, Ab infantia is A.ii
