poetica (single longest composition - a work of literary
criticism) Bante in his Divine Comedy lists him
3rd among poets after Homer + Virgil. Many of the
Odes are poems of love + wine and friendship, stressing,
the inevitablility of death + the need to enjoy life while one
can (as expressed in Horace's well known phrase
"carpe diem.")
