Status: Needs Review

Coloenl Gerden F. Johnson -2- May 8, 1958

Immediately, however, we are actually most interested in your
personal recollections of the day— in the things that you yourself knew
and heard and felt during the course of those twenty-four hours. The
list of questions which I enclose has been drawn up in the hope that
they will serve to crystallize some hazy memories and to indicate in
general the sort of material which we are seeking. We are using these
question sheets as a basis for an individual file on each person who
contributes to the book and although they will obviously not do justice
to your memories of the day, we should appreciate your completing the
form and returning it to me at your earliest convenience if you are
willing to bear with us this far.

I know that Mr. Ryan will be very happy to learn of your
support and (I hope) your further assistance when he returns from Europe,
and I am sure that he will be in touch with you himself before very
long. I shall look forward very eagerly to your reply. Thank you so
very much, sir, for any further help which you can give us.

Respectfully yours,

Frances Ward
