The weather since Autumn came in for most of the time has been rugged, Cold, windy and much rain and frequent storms.

Every appearance of a snow Storm, at night very chilly and Cold.
A very Cold night, this morning Ice 1½ Inches thick

This morning a heavy NE Snow Storm, the snow 2 Inches deep, and still snowing & raining, which continued through the day. The streets uncommonly wet wiht snow & rain.

Intemperance decreases among us very rapdly, the retailers of spirits, the number has become quite small. We hardly see a person intoxicated in a week. If the measures taken to abolish Intemperance continues it will totally and intirely prevent drunkeness, which will be a great Favour.

The weather is moderate for Winter, but wet & Chilly. The preceding month has been rugged, with much rain and several Snow storms, but not very deep. On the whole it has been pretty moderate. Thurr. [THERMOMETER] has nnot been lower than 24.

The Storm of 4th 10 mo. [MONTH] was remarkably disastous on different parts of the Cape, a great loss of life & property in the Town of Truro on the Cape more than 30 Women were made Widows, which caused many fatherless Children. Many lost all their property, leaving many distressed families. Subscriptions have been opened in many places for the relief of the sufferers. Viz. in Boston, Washington, South Carolina, &c.
