No Snow, but frequent rain, & but little frost.

Sudden change in the weather took place in the
course of last night; this morning it appeared
that it had Snowed the most of the Night.

Although the weather has been chilly, which
foreboded an approaching snow storm, yet it
was unexpected, as the weather been uncommonly
moderate for winter, & during the night of its
snowing the weather was nearly calm.

This was the first snow we had had during
the winter. The snow continued to fall
during the day. In the evening some rain,
with a moderate easterly wind.

The wind veered further northward & the
snow continued. It now may be called a
great fall of Snow. And probably will bury
up some of the sheep, & deprive them of food.

2mo. Philip H Folger bot. the Mark Coffin house
formerly built by Josiah Barker & sold to
Obed Mitchel, & by his heirs sold to PH for 2150 $ -- about 1/4 what it was worth
some years ago.

The latter part of last month Geo. Crosby
of Salem, resident at Nantucket as a School Master
was robbed on the high way, between Salem & Boston
of 900 $ in bills, & some other articles. He was
traveling on foot & alone in the night, when two
men accosted him, & demanded his money, at the
same time knocked him down & stabbed him in
several places & left him for dead.
