The weather in general through the course
of this month has been very moderate for
winter & most of the time pleasant, with
strong Southwesterly winds.
31st. The year ends with a sharp turn of Cold
It having been so moderate & suddenly
coming cold, it the more penetrating.
The Thermometer ranged at 13 or 14
but this spell was of short duration.

2nd. 1m. [MONTH] 1829 The weather this morning was chilly
& soon began to rain, but appeared moderate.
But rather unexpectedly about noon it
began to snow, & by night it was a heavy
Gale of wind at NE, & a great fall of Snow
It ceased the latter part of the night, and
the cold increased in the morning Therm. [THERMOMETER] stood
at 3° & ranged at 5 through the day.
When night came the cold increased, which
was followed by a very cold night.
