Grundy, Thomas

Description

Lot 82.

There are two Thomas Grundy's, one formerly buried at Mount Auburn and one still buried at Mount Auburn:

Thomas Grundy, interred in Mount Auburn's St. James Public Lot 82 on June 12th, 1847. Records state that he was then removed to Melrose, MA on September 16, 1884 (presumably to be reinterred in Wyoming Cemetery along with several other Grundy family members who were also moved there from Mount Auburn on that same date). However, there does not appear to be any such corresponding grave for this Thomas Grundy in Wyoming Cemetery, or anywhere else for that matter. Furthermore, outside of Mount Auburn there does not seem to be any records that can attest to the existence of a Thomas Grundy who could have been buried in 1847 to begin with.

Thomas Grundy (December 1, 1818 - August 24, 1863), buried in Mount Auburn's St. James Public Lot 82 (Mausoleum 71, Space 1) on August 27, 1863. Son of Hannah Collins Grundy. Uncle of Benjamin H. Grundy, Hannah Grundy, William G. Grundy, all of whom were formerly buried at Mount Auburn and were removed to Melrose in 1884.
