Henry M. Parker, Esq Sec'y Proprs. Mt. Auburn Cemetery
Dear Sir
I am the owner of Lot 453, in Mount Auburn Cemetery. Desiring something like a year since to obtain the lot directly in the rear of mine. I made application to Mr. Howe, to ascertain its ownership. I found that the lot belonged to [Mr?] Thomas A. Dexter, of this city, who kindly offered to transfer it to me, if I would furnish him with another lot which would suit him. He desired to obtain a lot in such a location that his brother might obtain an adjoining lot. To his terms I agreed, and informed [Mr?] Howe of the arrangement. If I recollect aright Mr Dexter, called on [Mr?] Howe and saw some lots, but deferred his decision in consequence of the absence of his brother.

The arrangement between us was considered as st'll in force, tho. its immediate completion, was deferred. On attempting its completion this summer, I learned that the price of lots had been raised. As the application for these lots, ie, are one for Mr. Dexter & one for his brother, was made last summer and their selection deferred from unavoidable cause, there would seem to be good reason why the Corporation, should sell the lots for the price as established last summer. I write to inquire whether they will be sold at that, or at the present price?
Very Resp Yrs Tho. J. Lee.

The undersigned the Committee on Lots, to whom was referred the communication of Thomas J. Lee with full power. Report.
That we have examined into the subject and are of opinion that the bargain between Mr Lee and Mr Dexter and the Superintendent Mr Howe was so far consumated, [?] on the price of lots was advanced that the Messrs Dexter should be allowed to select the two lots from any grounds then open for selection, at the old price ($120 per Lot), and the reference being with full power, all grant Mr Lee's request, and authorize the selection accordingly -
