Know all men by these presents that I Robert P Richardson
of the County of Hanover do hereby emancipate
and set free my mulatto boy named William (Son of mulatto
Judy) now about four years of age. The freedom of the
said boy to Commence on the eleventh day of March
One thousand eight hundred and fifty five, until
which time he is to remain a slave subject to
such dispostion as I may think proper to make of
him during the intermediate term by proper deed
signed and sealed by me in the presence of three witnesses,
or by my will in writing duly executed. In
Testimony whereof I have hereunto set hand
and affixed my seal this twenty fifth day of June
one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight.

At a Court of Monthly Session held for Hanover
County at the Courthouse on Tuesday the 26th of June
1838. This deed of emacipation was acknowledged
by Robert P Richardson a party thereto and is ordered
to be recorded.
