In Richmond Hustings Court June 11th 1855. The Application of William H. Lyons a free person of Color emancipated since the year 1806 for leave to remain in this Commonwealth and reside in this City, is continued till Friday next. And it is ordered that the justices of this Court be summoned to attend here on that day to hear and decide on said application. A Copy Teste Ro: Howard, clk.

Notice I shall apply to the Hustings Court of the City of Richmond on Tuesday the 12th day of June, 1855, for permission to remain in the Commonwealth of Virginia Richmond 30. March. 1855 William B. Lyons. a free man of color. By Counsel

City of Richmond to wit This day Herbert A Claiborne made oath before me, the Clerk of the Hustings Court of the said City [crossed out script: a duly Commissioned Notary Public for the said City,] that he posted a true Copy of the above notice at the [strike out: Court House] City Hall door of the Hustings Court of the City of Richmond, on Friday the 30th day of March 1855. Know all men by these presents that I Robert P Richardson of the County of Hanover do hereby emancipate and set free my mulatto boy named William (Son of mulatto Judy) now about four years of age. The freedom of the said boy to Commence on the eleventh day of March One thousand eight hundred and fifty five, until which time he is to remain a slave subject to such dispostion as I may think proper to make of him during the intermediate term by proper deed signed and sealed by me in the presence of three witnesses, or by my will in writing duly executed. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set hand and affixed my seal this twenty fifth day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight. Robert P Richardson {Seal}

At a Court of Monthly Session held for Hanover County at the Courthouse on Tuesday the 26th of June 1838. This deed of emacipation was acknowledged by Robert P Richardson a party thereto and is ordered to be recorded. Teste Philip B Winston C.H.C. A Copy Teste Wm. [Q? O?] Winston C.H.C.
