Rex went to town a while tonight Mother & I stayed at home and listened to the radio. {Right hand page} SUNDAY, APRIL 27, 1941 Mother spent the day with us & so did John Whitfield. Res & I took mother home this afternoon. Jessie called about 9 o'clock tonight and said Dad was dead that he died at 2 p.m. this afternoon. Jessie wasn't at home at the time they first called so we were delayed in receiving the message. Rex & I went to town tonight. Lin & Fred Strother went after Dad tonight.
