camp one Sunday and saw the ocnvicts come
out to dinner. While they were at the table
I saw Mr McLeroy give a negro a lick or two on
the head with a [?]. A few minutes after
I saw the same negro pass along [?] his
eyes. He was coming around the end of the
building. I had not seen him leave the
table and don't know what if anything had
been done with him. This was about last of
November I think. From outward appearance
the building was too small for the men,
and too open for winter, and especially for sick
men. I saw a man come to the table, looking
almost like a skeleton. Seemed very feeble and
I was surprised to see a man in his con-
dition forced to the table.

At Lake Fork, there are 18 convict graves made
during Randles time. I have heard that two con-
victs died when McLeroy was Sergeant.
I have heard of many abuses during Randles
administration. All I know of these abuses is
from hearsay, except as above stated.
Mr. Hamilton and Mr Bowles probably know about something.
I have been living in Wood Co - near 28 years,
and in the neighborhood of Lake Fork 18 years.
Last year was the sickliest year I have
ever seen in that time. There were a good many
