& Bacla(?) candy for Bowens. Only rooms available at Clearwater Beach $10, so I came on down below & found hskpg room for $4. Ate supper there, caught up on
diary.

Fri 4/3 Bright sunshine! Breakfast in room & made sandwiches & coffee for lunch. Took beach road but wrong tide & no shells. Back to 19A & 19, Sunshine Pky, 14 mile bridge across Tampa Bay. Second br. at Dutch Pantry. On down, taking no more beach roads. Lunch at Naples, pile of shells with crowds picking over, but all old & showed signs of many trips in & out - shells, that is! To Ft Myers by 1:30. Phoned Lona Fox, who said Come right out! They have attractive house about 7 miles on road to Sanibel ferry. Cordial welcome & shower bath & change of clothes.
