Dear Eva,

Sorry I waited so long to write but I
kept putting it off. I certainly did enjoy the
x mas presents, thanks a lot. I have been
getting along O.K. been working pretty
hard. I took the examination for Sergeant
and came out seventh on the test there was about
one hundred of us took it, the only trouble is
that there was already sixty three that was
on the list ahead of me. They have made twenty
two this month so that puts me about forty eight
on the list, I should make it in a few months.

It has been a little cold at night here
for the last two or three months, but I guess
it will start to get warmer soon. I sure would
like to get transfered from this job but it
doesn't much look like I will. I don't think there
is any chance of getting a furlough now, so I
guess I will have to wait. The most I could get
would be fifteen days and the way travel
is now I would be able to make it.

I haven't heard from Henry lately, I wrote
him in care of the address you wrote. Have
you heard from him? I would like to know
what is wrong with him, as soon as you
