Drove with my brother George this P.M.
through Belmont into Lexington.
In Belmont, I secured and am
pressing the following plants —
{ Acer rubrum — male & female.
{ Caltha palustris.
Taraxacum dens-leonis
{ Viola sagittata.
{ Veronica serpyllifolia.
{ Potentilla canadensis
In Lexington — the following —
Viola cucullata.
Ranunculus abortivus.
Carex pennsylvanica.
Lindera benzoin.
Anemone nemorosa.
Thalictrum anemonoides.

The chill that has been in
the air all through April,

has not gone yet and vegeta-
tion is stil very backward.
The leaves are just appearing
on some plants & trees, but
on most trees the buds are
still closed. Even the Anemone
nemorosa & Thalictrum anem-
onoides I found with difficulty

May 7 Cambridge
Took a walk round Fresh Pond
with Rollie this P.M. I got
some Houstonia caerulea in the
fields near Fresh Pond, some
Equisetum arvense and Potentilla
canadensis in Camb. In Belmont
some more Equisetum arvense,
Saxifraga virginiensis on a sunny
sandy slope, some Medicago
lupulina. ———
