[left] and the two girls. How ironic that Helen would have been subjected to such injustice - for saving a future collegian and Peace Corps volunteer among many others. Ah, we must never look for logic in affairs of state or any other affairs, my gracious, beloved friend. You too have faced the fury of the thoughtless-but to their shame, thank God!

I love you, Always, Jim

W. Concord April 5, 1967

[stamped] Censored by M.I. C. CONCORD

Dear Dr. Miriam,

Your letter came two days ago. Great. Thank you for briefing me on you current schedule. I am so glad Cynthia's mother is OK now, and that you have a chance to vacation with Helen. Ah, my heart is in Dorset these days be sure with both of you.

About Richard Gingrass, you did exactly right. Yes, it is so easy to go into a shell in these places. Your continued letters will have their theraputic effect on Richard and, I am sure, lift him out of himself and into that useful perspective we must all try to retain at all times.

Dick Hildebrandt's Easter visit from Maryland must have been a beautiful surprise. Much of my mind is now iwth Stephen during his boot training at Paris Island. I write him there of course. I know John does too, and the family, so at least at mail call he will know we love him dearly and follow his moves with deepest concern.

Comr. Gavin declines to transfer me. I can manage. Going to school now; Tach-X, speed reading, etc. I enjoy. SDG is doiing the job it has to do well. Best from all of us. Love to Helen. [hand written & signature] Much love, Jim
