Status: Needs Review

Ft. Worth,Texas,11/11"/1903.

To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Fort
Worth, Texas.

We, the undersigned citizens and taxpayers of the Second Ward
many of whom reside and own property adjacent to West Fifth Street, most
respectfully petition you honorable body to authorize the cutting down
of West Fifth Street on the hill just East of Robinsons Branch and be-
ginning at about where West Second Street runs into Fifth Street.

The attention of the Council is drawn to the fact that the
said Fifth Street is an extensively traveled thoroughfare and is a good
street with the exception of said hill.

That, the said hill is now veyr steep and in bad condition,
and that by cutting down or grading down the said hill about two or
three feet and using the material that may be taken there from in
widening and filling up the said street near Robinsons Branch, that the
said street can be made one of the best streets in the City, and,

That such improvement will not cost a great deal as the
material of which the said hill is composed,is largely loose rock and
gravel and will require but little additional material to make the same
a good street when cut down.

And they further show that this improvement is one that is
much needed and can be put through at a moderate cost.

They further show that the Second Ward is one of the most
populous Wards of the City in which reside many of the largest taxpayers
of the City, and, that in justice to this Ward this improvement should be
ordered and made without delay.

Respectfully submitted.
