JOHN B. HAWLEY, CONSULTING ENGINEER, MEMBER AMERICAN SOCIETY CIVIL ENGINEERS, CITY ENGINEER, FORT WORTH.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, Dec, 16th 1901. 1901.

Hon. W.M.Rea, City Marshall. City.

Dear Sir:-

On May 30th 1901, I notified Mr M.C.Hurley (whom I supposed to be) Agent for J.M.Grant, that the East wall of what if known as the Grant Building on Front Street, near Main, (on lot 18, block B.1. Daggett Addition) was in bad condition and getting worse, and should be repaired.

No steps have been taken to comply with the request to repair. An examination made to-day convinces me that the wall in question is unsafe and should be at once repaired.

Please, therefore notify Mess H.C.Jewell & Son agents or Mr Grant, to begin adequate repairs within 24 hours, failing in which I shall feel obli -ged to utterly condemn the structure & order it torn down.

Respectfully,

John B. Hawley

City Engineer.
